Popular skit maker and streamer, Carter Efe has come under intense public scrutiny following his claims about the end of his relationship with his baby mama, Emmanuella, which have been met with abuse allegations, viral videos, and sharply conflicting accounts.
The controversy surfaced after Carter Efe, born Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, took to Instagram and X to announce that he had been separated from his baby mama for over a year, describing the period as one marked by emotional distress, financial struggles, and creative stagnation.
Carter claimed Emmanuella had blocked him for five months and only resurfaced after his rise as a Twitch streamer, where he gained increased visibility through collaborations with international creators such as DDG. He attributed his recent success to resilience during what he described as a prolonged separation.
In a series of Instagram Story posts, Carter Efe wrote: “This lady has frustrated my whole life to the extent I trend everyday for beating a lady…..For good 2 years i lost everything, I lost my mindset, I cannot think or shoot content, I got broke…… Good 3 months I didn’t see my kid! CHARIS I never let that hold me down on my grind
This days you guys noticed have been happy and active, it’s because I was able to move away since!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m aggressively active GOD IS GOOD”
In another post, he accused her of opportunism, stating: “You left me for good 5months only to come and see that I’m the biggest streamer in Africa Lmaoooooooooo you wan follow me enjoy when you nor Dey there for me…. Funny bitch”
He further detailed his living conditions at the time, writing: “This is where we sleep everyday Me and my Team! In this one room
Hoping God will take control one day!! Until we were chased out from there
Talking to 4 people on livestream hoping and believing one day everything will be Go………. was intentional about grinding not just because of anybody but for my kid Charis to have a brighter future GOD IS GOOD
GOD NEVER LEFT MY SIDE WHEN THE POEPLE I LOVE LEFT ME!”
He added in another slide: “Yes I was chase from the one room and I was asked to pack that the same day!!! When you guys see me appreciating people like Davido and DDG!!!! I Dey reason wetin I don pass through to reach there! When e reach your turn no appreciate! Let woman End your career”
However, Carter’s account was publicly disputed by influencer JoJo of Lele, who accused him of repeated domestic abuse and alleged that Emmanuella was forced out of the house multiple times during their relationship.
The situation escalated further when activist and influencer VeryDarkMan shared videos of Emmanuella appearing emotionally distressed, with visibly swollen eyes. Addressing the matter, VeryDarkMan wrote:
“January 2025…. one year ago @carterefe do you remember this …… @nuella I told you I can speak for you if you speak for yourself….. is a good thing carterefe brought this up himself….. @ nuella GOD HAVE GIVEN YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO FREE YOURSELF….in between you guys can go back to my videos of 2024 when I spoke about carterefe I called him a woman beater,I specifically said he beats his wife”
The videos intensified online debate, with some viewers suggesting her appearance could have resulted from emotional distress, while others viewed the footage as supporting claims of abuse. Carter Efe has not directly addressed the videos shared by VeryDarkMan.
Amid the growing backlash, Emmanuella released a video on Instagram later today, offering her own account of events and disputing Carter’s claims. In the video caption, she wrote: “Honestly I never knew there would be a day like this, sitting in front of camera to talk about my private life?? It’s well sadly this is my reality, I have seen everything Carter posted about us however the way he posted it was weird because we were literally together 3 days ago and we had x ,we have a baby together and for you to Cater for your child I will have to come to you before you can give me money even though we aren’t together anymore like you claim…”
She further alleged that Carter restricted her personal and professional life, adding:
“You stopped me from working, I’ve always wanted to be become an actress but Carter doesn’t want that,l had to kill that dream,I can’t even work at the hospital because he said I would sleep with the doctors at the hospital…”
Emmanuella also accused him of isolating her from support systems, stating:
“this same person blocked all my female friends because he knows I would confide in them… if people try to contact me he blocks it, he made sure I kept my family away…”
She concluded by alleging intimidation ahead of his social media posts:
“honestly when I saw his post about me I was shocked because he called me this morning and told me he was about to post something calling me a prostitute and that he would make sure I don’t ever post myself ever again since he was the one that gave me the platform he would also take the platform from me, God knows everything”
The allegations, counterclaims, and video evidence have continued to generate widespread reactions online, with Carter Efe yet to issue a direct response to the latest claims.
