Popular Nigerian content creator and livestreamer Carter Efe has come under intense scrutiny following a public dispute with his baby mama, Emmanuella, marked by conflicting narratives and serious allegations of abuse and manipulation.
The controversy began when Carter Efe announced on Instagram and X that he had ended his relationship with Emmanuella over a year ago. He described the breakup period as a time of financial strain, emotional challenges, and professional stagnation.
In a series of Instagram Story posts, Carter claimed that Emmanuella had blocked him for five months and only reappeared after he gained recognition as a Twitch streamer, collaborating with international figures, including American rapper DDG.
“This lady has frustrated my whole life to the extent I trend every day for beating a lady. For good two years, I lost everything. I lost my mindset, I could not think or shoot content, I got broke,” Carter wrote. He also alleged that moving away from Emmanuella allowed him to regain stability and pursue his career.
Carter accused Emmanuella of opportunism, asserting that she returned only after he achieved professional success. He shared struggles including living in a single room with his team and being evicted, crediting faith and determination for his eventual breakthrough.
However, Carter’s account has been challenged publicly. Influencer JoJo of Lele accused him of repeated domestic abuse and claimed that Emmanuella had been forced out of their home multiple times. Social media activist VeryDarkMan shared videos of Emmanuella appearing visibly distressed, with swollen eyes, and reiterated prior accusations of physical abuse, urging her to speak out.
Emmanuella responded with her own video on Instagram, disputing Carter’s claims. She stated that they had been together only days before his posts and accused him of misrepresenting their relationship.
“We were literally together three days ago… we have a baby together, and for you to cater for your child, I have to come to you before you can give me money, even though you say we aren’t together anymore,” she said.
She further alleged that Carter restricted her freedom and career ambitions, including preventing her from pursuing acting, isolating her from friends and family, and blocking her female friends to limit her support network.
Emmanuella also claimed that Carter threatened her prior to his social media posts. “He called me this morning and told me he was about to post something calling me a prostitute and that he would make sure I don’t ever post myself again,” she said, adding that he tried to control her online presence.
The dispute has sparked widespread debate online, with supporters of both sides weighing in on allegations of abuse, emotional manipulation, and financial control. Carter Efe has not publicly responded to Emmanuella’s video.
