Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has advised manager Arne Slot to bench Mohamed Salah for the team’s next two matches following their 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
The defeat marked Liverpool’s fourth consecutive loss in all competitions, intensifying pressure on Slot and his squad.
Carragher, analysing the Reds’ recent struggles, argued that Salah’s dip in form has contributed to the team’s poor performances.
“Liverpool have got two away games – in the Champions League at Frankfurt and then they go to Brentford,” Carragher told reporters.
“I don’t think Salah should start both of those games. He should always start at Anfield because Liverpool will be on top, around the edge of the box, and more often than not he scores in those situations.
But I do think in the away games and helping your full-back, I don’t think Salah should be starting every game right now, certainly away from home, with the form he’s in.”
Liverpool face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League midweek before returning to Premier League action against Brentford.
