Nollywood actress Caroline Danjuma has criticised societal attitudes toward divorced women, saying many are unfairly blamed for the breakdown of their marriages.
The actress shared her views in a message posted to mark International Women’s Day, reflecting on her personal journey as a mother and the pressures women often face after divorce.
Danjuma revealed that at one point she was advised to avoid sharing photos or information about her children publicly because it could discourage potential partners.
However, she said she rejected the suggestion, choosing instead to openly celebrate her role as a mother of three.
According to the actress, motherhood has had a profound influence on her life, shaping her values and strengthening her resilience.
She described the experience as one that has taught her patience, forgiveness, strength and grace.
Danjuma also expressed gratitude for her children, aged 18, 17 and 11, noting that raising them has been one of the most meaningful parts of her life.
The actress acknowledged their father for his involvement in their upbringing, stating that he continues to care for them in significant ways.
Using the moment to highlight the broader issue of stigma, Danjuma said divorced women are often unfairly judged and expected to carry the blame for failed relationships.
She encouraged women to remain confident in their identities and embrace the roles that define them.
For Danjuma, motherhood represents not a limitation but a lasting legacy, one she proudly celebrates alongside other women on International Women’s Day.
