Grammy-winning rapper Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar Cephus, widely known as Cardi B, has been cleared of all assault allegations in a $24 million civil lawsuit. A Los Angeles jury delivered the verdict on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, unanimously siding with the artist after less than an hour of deliberation.
The case was filed by Emani Ellis, a former security guard, who alleged that Cardi B physically attacked her outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office in 2018. Ellis claimed the rapper, who was pregnant at the time, scratched her face, spat on her, and used racial slurs.
Taking the witness stand last week, Cardi B denied the accusations, insisting the encounter was only verbal. She explained that her frustration came from being recorded without permission while attending a private medical appointment.
Her defense was backed by multiple witnesses, including a receptionist and a doctor present at the clinic, both of whom testified that no assault took place.
The jury ultimately found Cardi B not liable for the alleged actions. Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, the rapper expressed relief and reaffirmed her stance against what she described as false allegations.
“Even if I’m on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do,” she declared.
The ruling marks a significant win for Cardi B, bringing closure to a legal dispute that has lingered for seven years.
