The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State Chapter, has called on Christians across the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the forthcoming elections.
The State CAN Chairman, John Bogna Bakeni, made the appeal during a national conference organised by the Gwoza Elite Forum in Maiduguri.

The conference focused on promoting political participation, human rights, and freedom of association.
Dr. Bakeni emphasized the need for Christians to vote for leaders who prioritize the welfare of the people.
He also commended Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, for his efforts in enhancing security and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He further appealed to the state government to give special attention to the development needs of Gwoza and communities in Southern Borno.
Also speaking, the Member representing Gwoza Local Government Area, Peter Biye, praised Christian communities for their resilience and encouraged them to engage fully in the political process to avoid marginalization.
He cautioned women and youths against engaging in money politics and corruption.
In his remarks, President of the Gwoza Elite Forum, Emmanuel Mbisa, commended the current administration and urged all levels of government to uphold equity and justice.
Mbisa also called on federal and state authorities to intensify efforts toward rebuilding communities destroyed by insurgency in Gwoza and other parts of Southern Borno, to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
He stressed the need for increased support for internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly those repatriated from Cameroon whose livelihoods have been devastated.
The conference, themed “Building a Peaceful Society Through Resilience,” was held at the COCIN Kirikasamma Church in Maiduguri, Borno State.
