The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have been dealt a major blow ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, as two key players sustained injuries during training in Rabat, Morocco.
Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa exited Tuesday’s session due to a hamstring injury, while striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting suffered a knee sprain. Adding to Cameroon’s concerns, first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana is also managing an ankle injury.
Despite these setbacks, the Indomitable Lions are set to face the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Barid Stadium in Rabat on Thursday night. The winner of this semi-final encounter will advance to meet either Nigeria or Gabon in the playoff final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium on Sunday.
Cameroon’s injury woes could prove crucial as they aim to secure a spot in the intercontinental qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
