The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the list of match officials appointed for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
A total of 73 experienced officials will oversee the tournament, including 28 referees, 31 assistant referees, and 14 Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials. Notably, no Nigerian referees were included in the final list.
CAF emphasized that the selected match officials represent all regions of the continent and include some of Africa’s most seasoned referees, many of whom have officiated in major CAF competitions in recent years.
All officials are expected to arrive in Morocco on December 15, 2025, to participate in an intensive preparatory course ahead of the competition. The program, led by CAF’s Referees Department, will involve physical, technical, and theoretical assessments to ensure peak performance throughout the tournament.
CAF stated that this rigorous selection process underscores its ongoing commitment to refereeing excellence, maintaining competition integrity, and enhancing technical standards across African football.
