Party describes outcome in Rivers, Kano and FCT as referendum on Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of 2027….
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the outcome of the recent by-elections in Rivers State, Kano State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a strong endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
In a statement issued on February 22, 2026, Lagos APC spokesman Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo said the victories recorded by the party’s candidates across the affected constituencies reflect public confidence in the administration’s direction and policies.
Oladejo stated that the results amount to “a clear and unmistakable referendum” on President Tinubu’s stewardship, adding that voters have demonstrated support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and the broader progressive philosophy guiding governance at the federal and state levels.
According to him, the by-election outcomes came at a time when opposition parties and critics have questioned the trajectory of the country. He argued that the electorate responded decisively at the ballot box, affirming what he described as bold economic reforms, infrastructure development and institutional strengthening under the current administration.
“The people have spoken through their votes,” Oladejo said, noting that the results suggest Nigerians recognize and appreciate ongoing efforts to reposition the economy and consolidate democratic institutions.
The Lagos APC spokesman also took aim at opposition groups, saying the by-election outcomes exposed what he termed a lack of credible alternatives. He contended that rhetoric and digital activism did not translate into electoral gains for rival parties.
He added that the elections underscored the limits of social media-driven political engagement, arguing that online momentum does not necessarily equate to grassroots support or electoral success.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Oladejo said the performance of the APC in the by-elections offers an early indication of broader national sentiment. He suggested that if current trends continue, the ruling party could enter the next electoral cycle with significant momentum.
The Lagos APC also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the elections and praised security agencies for maintaining peace and order during the process. According to Oladejo, their efforts ensured that voters were able to exercise their franchise in a safe environment.
He further acknowledged the role of party members, campaign teams and volunteers, attributing the victories to disciplined grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with constituents.
Describing the wins as more than routine political success, Oladejo said they represent a renewed mandate for the party to intensify its efforts in delivering governance outcomes.
He reiterated the Lagos APC’s support for President Tinubu and called on Nigerians across party lines to work collectively toward national development, unity and prosperity.
