Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has come under fire after he ordered a couple to leave his concert in Denver, United States, on Wednesday night for allegedly falling asleep during his performance.
The incident unfolded when the singer abruptly stopped his set, pointing at the pair in the audience and expressing frustration.
“When I stand up here and see you over there with your girl sleeping in front of me, it pisses me off,” he said. “Please, take her home… I’m not performing another song till you go.”
The woman initially hesitated, but the couple eventually left the venue after the crowd joined in, urging them to exit so the performance could continue. Burna Boy resumed the concert once they were out.
The move triggered mixed reactions online, with many criticising the singer for ejecting paying fans over what they considered a minor issue. Some argued that concertgoers should not be humiliated for being tired or distracted during a live show.
This is not the first time Burna Boy’s actions at concerts have drawn attention. He previously made headlines for kicking a fan who ran onstage for a hug and, on another occasion, ordering a fan to leave for not dancing during his set.
The latest incident has renewed conversations about the singer’s treatment of fans and his growing reputation for removing audience members from his performances.
