Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist Burna Boy has revealed how his collaboration with rock legend Mick Jagger came to life, thanks to Naomi Campbell.
Speaking during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Burna Boy shared that the British supermodel was the bridge between him and the Rolling Stones frontman.
“It’s actually crazy because it was initiated by Naomi Campbell, she made it happen,” Burna Boy said. “Before I knew it, I was talking to Mick Jagger, and it felt like we’d known each other forever.”
The pair teamed up on the track “Empty Chairs,” which seamlessly blends Burna Boy’s signature Afrobeats sound with classic rock influences, a collaboration that has since drawn global attention.
The song features on Burna Boy’s latest album, No Sign of Weakness, released on July 11, 2025. The project continues to cement his reputation as one of Africa’s most innovative artists, known for crossing genres and cultural boundaries.
The revelation highlights the global connections fueling Burna Boy’s artistry and the growing intersection between Afrobeats and other world music genres.
