Afrofusion superstar Burna Boy electrified fans in Houston on Saturday night, returning as the first African artist to headline the city’s major arena twice and proving once again that his global appeal remains unstoppable.
The Grammy winner delivered a high-energy set packed with crowd favourites such as It’s Plenty, performing against a backdrop of bold red and orange pyrotechnics. Fan-shot videos shared online showed glowing wristbands lighting up the venue and fans filling most of the lower bowl while dancing and singing along throughout the night.
However, footage also revealed some sparsely filled seats in the upper sections, sparking social-media debates over whether the turnout was as strong as expected. Supporters and critics traded jabs on X, with some arguing the visuals didn’t reflect his ongoing North American dominance.
The show follows a recent online backlash from an earlier tour stop where Burna Boy was criticised for removing sleeping fans including one concertgoer later revealed to be grieving a personal loss. Despite the controversy, anticipation around his US shows has remained high.
While no official attendance numbers have been released, Burna Boy’s team has continued to describe the tour as a major success, noting multiple sold-out shows already on the schedule and more cities still ahead.
