Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has made history as the most streamed African artist on Spotify in 2025, amassing nearly 2 billion streams over the year.
The Ye crooner recorded 1.986 billion streams, surpassing fellow Nigerian artists Wizkid, Rema, and Davido, as well as South African singer Tyla, to claim the top spot for African music streaming.
According to Spotify’s 2025 data, Wizkid ranked second with 1.81 billion streams, while Tyla came third with 1.67 billion. Rema and Davido followed closely with 1.63 billion and 1.58 billion streams, respectively.
Other notable artists rounding out the top 10 include Asake (1.52 billion streams), Ayra Starr (1.47 billion), CKay (1.38 billion), Seyi Vibez (1.32 billion), and Mr Eazi (1.26 billion).
Burna Boy’s record-breaking achievement underscores the growing global influence of African music and streaming culture, further cementing his status as one of the continent’s leading musical exports.
