Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has opened up about how his early involvement in church drama set the stage for his career and spiritual growth.
Speaking with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Franklin recalled that his very first stage experience came through the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), where he joined the men’s fellowship drama group despite being the only teenager among much older participants.
“I started from church. In my formative years, I was attending ECWA. Imagine being the only teenager in the men’s fellowship drama group, performing with men in their 50s right there on the pulpit where baptisms were held,” he said.
Franklin explained that those formative performances not only honed his craft but also gave him a deeper connection to his faith.
Reflecting on the impact of those years, he added:
“When I think about my experience as a child growing up and having different encounters with my Heavenly Father as regards my job, I know. I don’t need a soothsayer or somebody with a silver tongue. I know.”
The actor credited his church foundation as a guiding force that continues to shape both his professional journey in Nollywood and his personal relationship with God.
