Team Brazil etched their name into history on Sunday after clinching their maiden series victory at the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, the first African edition of the all-electric powerboat championship.
Led by skipper Timmy Hansen and Leva Millere-Hagin, the Brazilian duo delivered a commanding display from the opening heats to the decisive final. They dominated the group stages and race-offs before sealing victory in a pulsating finale, amassing 38 points to lift their overall championship tally to 89.
Team Blue Rising finished second, while Team Drogba secured third place. Pre-race favourites Team Rafa and Team Brady failed to reach the podium in a surprise outcome.
The Lagos Grand Prix, staged on 5–6 October along the Victoria Island waterfront, represented the sport’s debut on African waters. The event combined high-octane racing with cutting-edge technology and a strong focus on sustainability.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hailed the championship as a milestone moment for the city, stressing its significance beyond sport.
“Hosting the E1 Grand Prix is not just about sport. It is about innovation, environmental responsibility, and putting Lagos on the global map for future-focused development,” the governor said.
