Barau FC head coach, Ladan Bosso, has defended his team’s slow start to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Maliya Boys have managed just two wins, two draws, and five defeats in their maiden top-flight campaign and currently sit 18th on the NPFL table with eight points.
Bosso, however, remains confident that his side will improve as the season progresses.
“We are working with players that are just coming up. We retained almost all the players that secured promotion for Barau FC, and they will need time to blend with the rigorous nature of the NPFL,” Bosso told the club’s media.
Drawing from his past experience, Bosso added:
“Like my time with Bayelsa United, we were also slow with our start, but when we got it right, we moved further up the log. The quality of players here is even better than those at Bayelsa United.”
Barau FC will next face Wikki Tourists in a Matchday 11 fixture this weekend.
