The 17th edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards lit up Lagos with glamour and celebration as the Nigerian film industry gathered at the National Theatre to honour outstanding achievements in cinema.
While Farmers Bride emerged as the night’s biggest winner in the major categories, Femi Adebayo’s acclaimed series Seven Doors dominated the technical awards, cementing its status as one of the most celebrated productions of the year.
Farmers Bride clinched the two most prestigious honours of the night, Movie of the Year and Director of the Year, placing the drama firmly at the centre of the 2025 awards conversation.
Despite missing out on the top prizes, Seven Doors proved to be the most prolific single title at the ceremony. The production swept four major technical awards: Best Production Design, Best Special Effect, Best Series, and Best Cinematography, highlighting the growing emphasis on technical excellence in Nollywood.
Acting honours were led by the film Black Out, which recorded a clean sweep in the lead acting categories. Gideon Okeke won Best Actor, while Padita Agu secured Best Actress for her performance in the film.
In the supporting categories, Mercy Aigbe was recognised as Best Supporting Actress for My Mother Is a Witch, while Taye Ayimoro won Best Supporting Actor for Son of the Soil. The on-screen chemistry between Tobi Bakre and Folu Storms earned them the Best Kiss award for Red Cycle.
Cultural storytelling also received recognition, with Abanisete winning Best Indigenous Film. Emerging talent was spotlighted as Razaq Adoti (Son of the Soil) and Una Idoko (I Am Anis) picked up the Most Promising Actor and Actress awards respectively.
Special recognition awards were presented to Steve Ayorinde, Funke Akindele, and Dr. Shaibu Husseini for their contributions to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
The ceremony reaffirmed Nollywood’s creative depth, celebrating excellence across storytelling, performance, and production.
