Celebrity Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Linus Williams Ifejirika, widely known as Blord, has taken legal steps to prevent social media critic VeryDarkMan from using the name “Ratel.”
Blord disclosed the development in a post shared on his Instagram page, stating that the name “Ratel” has been officially trademarked as his business brand. He added that its use by any individual or entity now requires his formal approval.
In a public statement posted on his Instagram story, Blord revealed that he had instructed his legal team, led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), to issue a cease and desist letter to VeryDarkMan.
According to him, the directive bars the social media personality from further use of the name unless permission is granted.
The announcement has triggered widespread reactions online, with social media users expressing mixed views over brand ownership and free expression.
The legal move comes against the backdrop of a long-running public dispute between the two figures. The feud reportedly began in October 2025 when VeryDarkMan travelled to China, claiming he was assisting Nigerian entrepreneurs in sourcing affordable goods and supplier contacts.
During the trip, VeryDarkMan accused Blord of alleged business malpractice, including fraud and overpricing of modified electronic gadgets. The disagreement later intensified, with reports that a petition was submitted to the police seeking an investigation into Blord’s business activities.
“Ratel” is widely known as the name VeryDarkMan uses to describe his loyal online supporters, a factor that has added another layer of controversy to the ongoing conflict.
As of now, neither party has indicated plans to de-escalate the dispute, which continues to play out prominently across social media platforms.
