Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has sparked conversation online after revealing that he would be comfortable in an open marriage.
Speaking on a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, the rapper explained that many marriages lose their initial spark over time, especially when couples limit their sexual experiences to each other.
According to him, it’s acceptable for a married person to seek intimacy outside the marriage, as long as their emotional and personal commitment to their spouse remains intact.
“I don’t mind having an open marriage,” Blaqbonez said. “Most married couples don’t keep having the same amount of sex they were having at the beginning, it reduces. If somebody is satisfying her sexually while I’m hustling, touring, and not available, that’s okay. There’s more to marriage than sex.”
He stressed that physical relationships with other people would not diminish the emotional bond or history shared with a spouse.
“It’ll be difficult for a random person to match up with what I’ve built with her. Nobody is going to get her sexually and mentally addicted to them like I do,” he added. “If I’m going to get married, I need two rooms. My wife and I will only meet when we want to be intimate.”
The comments have since stirred reactions across social media, with fans and critics debating his views on commitment, freedom, and modern relationships.
