Blackburn Rovers has officially completed the permanent signing of highly-rated forward Osman Kamara from Arsenal’s academy, ending the teenager’s decade-long association with the North London giants. The 19-year-old marksman has committed his future to Ewood Park by signing a two-and-a-half-year contract that runs until June 2028, with the Lancashire club retaining an option to extend the agreement for a further season.
Kamara successfully earned the move following a standout trial period with Rovers’ Under-21 squad, during which he scored just four minutes into his debut against Birmingham City.
Kamara’s professional journey at Arsenal began in May 2014, eventually leading to his first senior contract with the club in June 2024. Throughout his development at London Colney, the versatile attacker became a mainstay for the Gunners’ youth ranks, accumulating 77 appearances across the Under-18 and Under-21 levels. His offensive output remains impressive, having recorded 21 goals and five assists while featuring in high-stakes competitions like the UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy.
On the international stage, Kamara has already made significant strides by representing Sierra Leone at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. His debut in that tournament served as a springboard for his move into senior football, showcasing the physical and technical attributes that attracted Blackburn’s recruitment team. As he transitions into Gregory Vignal’s development setup, the Ewood Park hierarchy expects Kamara to challenge for a place in the first-team squad as they continue their push in the Sky Bet Championship.
Arsenal formally bid farewell to the academy graduate via a club statement on Monday: “We thank Osman for his contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him all the best for his next chapter with Blackburn Rovers.”
