Nigerian Afrobeats talent Black Fab has returned with a fresh sound on his new single, “I Like Am”, a house-leaning, feel-good record crafted for Lagos rooftops, living rooms and late-night party circuits.
The track pulls from one of the artist’s favourite creative rituals, unwinding at home with long house playlists, easing into a relaxed mental space and drawing inspiration from the electric pulse of Lagos house parties. The result is a seamless fusion of calm, rhythm and communal energy.
Over the past year, Black Fab has become a key cultural voice for the Igala community, infusing his heritage into Afrobeats through standout releases such as “Ukpokpu,” “Egwu,” and his 2025 project Big Masquerade, which features fan favourites like “Ready” with Ycee and “Oyoyo” featuring TML Vibez.
With “I Like Am,” he leans more deliberately into house and dance elements, aiming to reach a wider global audience. The production carries a club-friendly bounce, while the songwriting favours catchy, universal phrasing without losing the authenticity that defines his sound.
This time, Black Fab keeps the record free of major features by choice. He says he prefers to build organically with his inner circle for now, a creative approach he describes as “waxing it with my own family.”
For listeners, he hopes the track communicates three things: the boundlessness of his music, the timelessness of “I Like Am,” and an invitation for everyone to tap into their inner chakra and spread positivity.
Marking the latest stage in his artistic evolution, “I Like Am” positions Black Fab not just as an Igala storyteller, but as an emerging force on global dancefloors.
