Award-winning South African DJ and record producer Black Coffee has declared that he has no intention of getting married again.
Speaking on a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, the Grammy-winning artist explained that he has reached a point in life where he fully understands himself and will no longer allow societal expectations to dictate his choices.
“I won’t get married again. I’m clear about that because I am now in a better space in understanding who I am. I also understand the kind of pressure society puts you in without ever backing you up,” he said.
Black Coffee, who is a father of four, revealed that his parents played a significant role in pushing him toward marriage after he achieved fame and financial success.
“With my career, especially because it wasn’t so obvious — I wasn’t going to get a degree and become a lawyer. It was unclear, but as soon as it popped, everyone was wowed. I bought my first house and car, and they [my parents] were like, ‘When are you getting a wife?’”
The celebrated DJ added that over time, he realized society’s influence had shaped many of his early life decisions. Now, he says remaining single gives him the freedom to focus entirely on his career and personal growth.
Black Coffee was previously married to South African actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa. The couple, who tied the knot in 2011, divorced in 2019 following allegations of infidelity involving the DJ and a local model. Their union produced two children, while Black Coffee has two more from previous relationships.
The 48-year-old producer, known globally for his deep house sound and collaborations with artists like Drake and David Guetta, continues to be one of Africa’s most successful and influential music exports.
