Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has penned a heartfelt message in remembrance of her late mother, marking seven years since her passing.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram, the actress reflected on the pain of losing a parent, describing the absence of a mother as a void that never truly fades.
Okeowo recalled the moment she received the news of her mother’s death, saying the memory still feels as vivid and painful as the day it happened.
“Seven good years without you, Mummy! It still feels so fresh,” she wrote, adding that she could still remember collapsing in shock when she was told about the loss.
The actress used the tribute to reflect on her mother’s sacrifices, questioning why she passed away just as many of the things she prayed and worked for were beginning to materialise.
According to Okeowo, her mother played a crucial role in helping her navigate difficult periods of her life, especially when she was raising her children as a young single mother.
She explained that her mother took on much of the responsibility of caring for her children during that time, encouraging her to return to school and focus on building a better future.
“You took the burden of motherhood away from me when my kids were so young and life became hard for a very young single mom like me,” she wrote.
Okeowo also shared a touching memory involving her first child, recalling how emotional he was when leaving for Canada years ago. At the time, he reportedly worried that he might not see his grandmother again after travelling.
According to the actress, her mother died two years after that trip.
Despite the lingering grief, Okeowo said her mother’s death has strengthened her faith and deepened her relationship with God.
She expressed gratitude for the years they shared, adding that her mother’s prayers, strength, and guidance continue to shape her life.
“I miss you deeply, but I thank God for the gift of having you as my mother,” she wrote.
The actress concluded her tribute by praying for her mother’s peaceful rest and asking followers to keep her in their prayers.
