Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared the story behind her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, revealing that opposition bullying played a key role in her decision.
In a recent conversation on With Chude, Akintola explained that her endorsement was partly a response to harassment from a supporter of another candidate, who pressured her over her political choice.
She urged Nigerians to respect diverse opinions, stressing that every citizen has the right to their own political stance.
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because somebody annoyed me with their bullying,” Akintola said. “Don’t bully other people. We have our rights to differences of opinion. You don’t like this man, cool, you have the right not to like him. You prefer this person, good for you. But don’t bully others.”
The actress also condemned the harsh criticism faced by veteran actress Joke Silva for publicly supporting Tinubu. In response, Akintola made her own position clear, emphasizing personal choice and free expression.
“We need to stop bullying. We need to agree that we can never agree with everybody. That’s what makes us great and beautiful. You can’t take my voice away from me; it’s mine,” she added.
Akintola’s remarks underscore the importance of tolerance in Nigeria’s political discourse and encourage citizens to engage respectfully despite differing opinions.
