Besiktas has officially released a medical report regarding the health of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi after his return from international duty. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder suffered a significant injury during Nigeria’s quarter-final victory against Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
While a suspension already ruled him out of the semi-final loss to Morocco, this physical setback also prevented him from participating in the bronze-medal win over Egypt.
Diagnostic imaging conducted by the Super Eagles’ medical staff and reviewed by the Turkish club revealed a strain and bleeding within Ndidi’s biceps femoris muscle. The Istanbul-based side confirmed the diagnosis following an MRI, noting that the injury involves the posterior thigh area. This development comes as a blow to Besiktas, who rely on the veteran midfielder’s defensive stability and leadership in the Turkish Super Lig.
The club has already initiated a specialized treatment program for the captain to facilitate his return to competitive action. Although Besiktas officials have not yet established a definitive timeline for his recovery, Ndidi will likely miss several upcoming domestic fixtures. Fans and coaching staff alike remain hopeful for a swift rehabilitation as the club enters a crucial phase of its league campaign.
