Head coach of the Amazons of Benin Republic, Abdoulaye Ouzerou, has acknowledged that his team faces a tough challenge as they prepare to take on the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the second leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier today (Tuesday) in Abeokuta.
The Beninese side heads into the encounter with a mountain to climb, having suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Lome last week. To qualify for the WAFCON finals, they must score at least three goals without conceding against the reigning African champions.
Ouzerou admitted that the Falcons will be difficult opponents, especially on home soil.
“When the Super Falcons play, their mindset is to win — that’s what champions do,” Ouzerou told reporters ahead of the match.
“We know they’ll want to make their fans happy after winning the WAFCON. For us, the target is to keep improving and hopefully qualify for the next WAFCON.”
The crucial clash will take place at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, with the Super Falcons looking to seal their ticket to Morocco 2026.
