Captain of the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, Steve Mounié, says his team is highly motivated to defeat Nigeria in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Mounié stressed that the entire squad understands the importance of the encounter and is determined to give their all on the pitch.
“I don’t think I need to motivate my teammates that much. We all know what we are playing for tomorrow, which is bigger than every individual,” the forward said.
“Everyone knows what we have to do tomorrow to get qualification. We will give our best on the pitch.”
The Cheetahs, who currently top Group C with 17 points from nine matches, are aiming to seal a historic first-ever World Cup qualification.
