Singer Bella Shmurda has revealed that his hit song Cash App was inspired by internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys.
In an interview with Clout Africa, the singer explained that he created the song to resonate with this group, acknowledging their struggles while entertaining and motivating them.
“It is Yahoo in the sense that they have to dance. These people who are hustling, you have to make them happy,” Shmurda said.
He added that the inspiration behind the track was natural and divine. “The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it. It is natural; it just comes. It is God-given,” he said.
Cash App, which features Zlatan and Lincoln, was released in 2020 and quickly became a hit across Nigeria and other African countries.
