The Bell ObaFest brought renewed vibe, flavour and colour to Masaka city on the weekend.
The annual festival that celebrates East African culture through food and music painted the city yellow, the colour of Bell beer, extolling the beer as a unifying factor. The evening, held at Chomaz Lounge, kicked off in style with MC Marvin Solo setting the tone for a night full of rhythm and excitement.
He kept the crowd buzzing as DJs Mel Pro and Bratta dropped electrifying mixes that set the perfect mood for what was to come. But it was Masaka’s very own crowd favourite, Suuna Ben, who truly stole the spotlight.
The moment he stepped on stage, the room erupted in cheers. Grateful and humbled, he took a moment to thank his fans before diving into his signature “kinyanyanyanya” session, a performance so lively that fans waved branches in the air in pure excitement.
The energy between Suuna Ben and his fans was undeniable, a true reflection of love for local talent. Later in the evening, when Nandor Love sang his song Kinawolovu, the atmosphere hit another level.
The rising star owned the stage, delivering a captivating set that flowed seamlessly through her growing catalogue, including fan favourites such as Mpologoma and Gukuba. Her performance cemented the night as a true celebration of Uganda’s thriving music scene.
Speaking after the memorable Masaka activation, Herbert Ndugga, Bell Lager’s sales manager, shared his excitement: “The vibe at Chomaz was absolutely electric! This year, ObaFest is about bringing the party to every corner of Uganda; Masaka showed us what real energy looks like. Bell is proud to be the official beer of enjoyments.”
As the night deepened, the party showed no signs of slowing down. DJ Woodgates kept the decks spinning, fueling the crowd’s energy until dawn. The main event at Chomaz Lounge capped off a week of lively Bell spot activations around Masaka, which had already stirred anticipation and built momentum for the grand celebration.
The Bell ObaFest regional tour now heads to Arua, with the next big stop at Capital One Lounge on November 8. The excitement is scheduled to climax at the Millennium grounds, Lugogo in Kampala, for the grand finale on November 15.
