Former Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Thelma Lawson has shared candid details about the financial and emotional challenges that come with life after the reality show, describing her newfound fame as both exciting and overwhelming.
In a recent interview, the reality TV star, who was dubbed the “most fashionable” housemate of her season, admitted that the cost of maintaining her public image has become a major strain.
“This new life is expensive because you’re showing up for events,” she said. “I came out of the house and found out that I was named the most fashionable. Now I have an audience that wants to see what Thelma is wearing. I had that kind of audience before, but now it’s bigger, more people waiting to see my next look.”
Thelma explained that staying visible means investing in her wardrobe, attending public events, and meeting the expectations of her growing fanbase, all of which require significant financial commitment.
As an entrepreneur managing her skincare business, she added that keeping her business stocked while balancing her social presence often leaves her stretched thin.
“It’s expensive, and I have a business that requires constant restocking. Money is going in different directions. It’s overwhelming. There’s a lot of work to do, putting yourself out there, and you can’t be everywhere,” she said.
The mother of one also reflected on the emotional toll of fame, noting that while the platform has opened doors, it has also introduced new pressures.
Big Brother Naija Season 10, themed “10/10”, concluded earlier this month, propelling its contestants into the spotlight and thrusting them into the complexities of celebrity life beyond the show.
