Former Big Brother Naija housemate Adekunle Olopade has expressed relief and gratitude after confirming that the police officers who allegedly assaulted him have been identified and disciplined.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the reality TV star thanked the Lagos State Police Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) for their swift intervention and investigation into the case.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank the Lagos State Police Command Complaint Response Unit for their prompt attention to this matter,” he wrote. “From reaching out, swinging into action the moment the news broke, and following up to make sure everything was okay.”
Adekunle commended ACP Oluyemisi Ojo, who led the investigation at Elemoro Police Station, Ibeju-Lekki, adding that the officers involved in the incident have faced disciplinary action.
“Thanks to the effort and investigation of ACP Oluyemisi Ojo, the police officers were found, and disciplinary action has been taken against them,” he said. “Justice has been served! The fact that justice can be served at a time where public trust for the police is low is truly encouraging.”
Adekunle encouraged Nigerians who have suffered similar experiences to report cases of police misconduct, stressing that the Complaint Response Unit is active and effective.
“Please make sure you report the case. Get as much evidence as you can and take the matter up,” he advised. “The CRU’s job is to ensure the safety of citizens while sanitizing the system of bad officers.”
The former BBNaija star had earlier revealed that he was allegedly harassed and detained by police officers for several hours, an ordeal that drew widespread concern and support from fans.
He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and solidarity during the ordeal, saying,
“It’s a blessing to know that I was not alone during this period and that there will always be people to rise up and stand with you when it truly matters.”
Adekunle concluded by urging Nigerians to remain cautious during the festive season, noting that while good officers exist, citizens should stay vigilant against potential harassment.
“I shouldn’t have experienced what I went through, and neither should any Nigerian simply going about their business. While celebrating, be mindful of your surroundings and remember the potential risks. Harassment is unacceptable, and no one deserves to go through all that.”
