Recently evicted Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Thelma Lawson, has opened up on why her anticipated friendship with fellow contestant Isabella never materialized.
Thelma, who exited the show on Saturday alongside Bright Morgan in a surprise double eviction, revealed during her post-show interview that the tension stemmed from her closeness to Kayinkunmi, a contestant she already knew before the competition.
According to her, Isabella misinterpreted her bond with Kayinkunmi as something romantic, leading to suspicion and distance between them.
“It’s unfortunate that Isabella and I never really became friends. I genuinely looked forward to connecting with her because she is a mother to a 14-year-old son. I wanted to learn life from her perspective. But things changed because Kayinkunmi, who is my friend outside the house, was also in the game,” Thelma explained.
The situation reportedly worsened when Thelma, during her tenure as Head of House, chose Kayinkunmi as her deputy. She said Isabella’s reaction that night made it clear the misunderstanding had deepened.
“Her reaction showed me she had taken it too far. I felt it wasn’t the right moment for a conversation,” she said.
Thelma further clarified that she intentionally kept the extent of her friendship with Kayinkunmi private, insisting it was unnecessary to broadcast it to the entire house.
“Kayinkunmi is my friend and that was why I chose him as deputy. I didn’t want anyone using us for highlights, so I only explained to those who directly asked me. Unfortunately, by the time Isabella realized there was nothing between us, the damage had already been done,” she added.
While reflecting on her time in the house, Thelma admitted she had genuinely hoped for a meaningful connection with Isabella, but the misunderstanding created a rift that was never repaired before her eviction.
