Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella has resumed full team training after weeks on the sidelines with a persistent knee injury. According to German outlet Bild, the Nigerian international completed most of the session on Tuesday for the first time since mid-September, which they described as “good news for Bayer Leverkusen.”
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during Leverkusen’s 3–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on September 12, a setback that repeatedly interrupted his recovery. Tella participated in large parts of the training session, signaling promising progress ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Wolfsburg.
While it is not yet confirmed whether he will feature in the match, Bild reported that “the chances are not bad that Tella will at least be in the squad.” The winger sat out the final practice match but worked individually on passing and shooting drills alongside Axel Tape, who is also nearing a return after injury.
Manager Kasper Hjulmand appears to be taking a measured approach, prioritising a pain-free return for Tella following a lengthy absence. His comeback timing could be significant, as Arthur has recently filled in on the right flank with mixed performances, creating an opportunity for Tella to reassert himself in the squad.
Leverkusen face a challenging fixture schedule over the next four weeks, including games against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, and RB Leipzig. Meanwhile, Tape is expected to return gradually following a muscle-tendon injury, and Lucas Vázquez remains sidelined with a back issue, missing Tuesday’s session.
