Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand has provided a positive update on Nigeria international Nathan Tella, confirming that the winger is set to return to action following the upcoming international break.
Tella has been out of action since suffering a knee injury during Leverkusen’s 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in September. The setback has kept him sidelined for several weeks, but the player has recently resumed individual training sessions, signaling progress toward full recovery.
According to Hjulmand, both Tella and teammate Axel have been making steady strides in their rehabilitation.
“Nathan and Axel are already back on the pitch. Both are training [individually]. I think the international break over the next two weeks will help,” the coach said, as quoted on Bayer Leverkusen’s official website.
The 25-year-old Nigerian winger is expected to make his full return to competitive action by the end of the month, giving Leverkusen a timely boost as they continue their strong campaign across domestic and European competitions.
Since the start of the season, Tella has made four appearances in all competitions for Die Werkself, contributing one assist before his injury.
His anticipated comeback will be a welcome development for both Leverkusen fans and Super Eagles supporters, as Tella remains an important option for club and country heading into a busy winter schedule.
