Bauchi State Government has declared Friday as a public holiday in honour of the late Islamic Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi who died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 102.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The statement was titled: “Bauchi State Government declares tomorrow,
Friday, 28th November, 2025 as work-free day to honour late Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi.”
The government said that the public holiday is to honour the prominent Islamic Cleric who would be buried tomorrow and to allow sympathizers pay their last respect to him.
“His Excellency , Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON , Fnipr ( Kauran Daular Usmaniyya )the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has declared tomorrow , Friday 28th November, 2025 as work-free day across the state. This declaration comes as a mark of respect and honour for late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, whose funeral prayer is scheduled to take place tomorrow in accordance with Islamic rites.
“The decision is meant to enable government workers, students, followers of the late scholar, and the general public to participate in the funeral prayers and pay their last respect.
“The government recognizes the profound impact of Sheikh Bauchi’s life and legacy , his dedication to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and promotion of peace, unity, and moral uprightness across Nigeria and beyond.
“As the state mourns this monumental loss, the government calls on all citizens , to join in prayers for the repose of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s soul, and to offer support and comfort to his family, students, followers, and the broader Muslim Ummah,” the statement read.
