FC Barcelona will make a highly anticipated return to their newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou this week, hosting Athletic Club in what promises to be a historic fixture.
The Blaugrana have spent over a year away from their iconic home due to extensive reconstruction works under the Espai Barça project, playing home games at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys during the renovation period.
Transfer and football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development via X on Monday, stating, “Barcelona will make their long-awaited return this week, with Athletic Club as the first visitors at the upgraded stadium.”
The return to Camp Nou marks a major milestone for the club, as fans will experience the modernised stadium for the first time. The match against Athletic Club will also serve as the official debut of the revamped venue, expected to attract a sell-out crowd.
Final preparations for the stadium, including planned pre-match events, are set to be announced by the club in the coming hours. Earlier reports indicated that Barcelona’s initial August reopening plans were delayed due to licensing challenges, pushing back the return to their home ground.
