Barcelona chiefs have finalized their plans to secure Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis following his exceptional stint at the Nou Camp. The England international has exceeded expectations during his loan spell from Manchester United, prompting the Catalan giants to trigger a formal transfer. Reports also indicate that the club has expanded its recruitment sights to include Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero.
Spanish journalist Luis Miguelsanz of Sport reports that the Barcelona hierarchy reached a unanimous verdict regarding the financial commitment necessary to retain Rashford. The forward’s seamless integration into the squad convinced the board to move forward without further delay.
Miguelsanz wrote, “Barca will use the €30 million option to buy the player permanently in a deal that won’t be discussed, because Manchester United won’t reduce their asking price by even one euro. The Catalan club thinks this price is fair and not too high, considering the player’s skills and how much similar players in this position are worth, which could go up a lot.”
Simultaneously, the Spanish football landscape faces potential upheaval with rumors of a Sergio Ramos comeback. The veteran defender recently ended his tenure with Mexican side Monterrey in December and now seeks a new challenge. While some speculated about a sentimental return to Sevilla, sporting director Antonio Cordon dismissed the idea. Cordon clarified that the club faces a “no financial possibility” regarding such a deal.
Despite reaching the age of 39, Ramos maintains a strong desire to continue his professional playing career. He currently prioritizes a return to La Liga over other international opportunities. This development adds another layer of intrigue to the winter transfer market as Barcelona prepares its substantial investment in Rashford.
