Bandits have once again unleashed terror in Kwara State, abducting 11 residents in a fresh attack on the Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area.
The incident comes barely two weeks after armed men invaded the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), where 38 worshippers were kidnapped and several others reportedly lost their lives.
According to sources, more than 20 gunmen stormed Isapa on Monday, arriving with a large herd of cattle and firing sporadically to create chaos. In the ensuing panic, an elderly woman was struck by a stray bullet.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that 11 people were taken, seven of whom belong to the same family. The victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
The abducted individuals have been identified as:
Talatu Kabiru (20, female), Magaji (6, male), Kande (5, female), Hadiza (10, female), Mariam (6, female), Saima (5, female); Habibat, housewife, Fatima Yusufu, housewife; Sarah Sunday (22, pregnant woman), Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother), Haja Na Allah, nursing mother
Eyewitnesses recounted how the attackers moved through different parts of the town, leaving behind shattered doors, bullet-riddled walls, and dozens of expended AK-47 shells scattered across the streets.
As of the time of filing this report, the police have not released an official statement regarding the attack.
