Bandits have again raided the Kasuan Daji in the Borgu Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, killing no fewer than four villagers.
The bandits also rustled scores of cattle during the raid.
The incident, which was the second within one week, came after not less than 42 villagers were massacred in villages in the LGA and the adjoining Agwara LGA of the state.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who was away to Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj, returned to the country on Thursday and was billed to visit the troubled local government areas today and tomorrow (Monday).
Following the incidents, the chairman of the local government, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi Nasiru, has cried out that his LGA was under siege by terrorists and bandits and asked relevant authorities to step in to “save my people from further massacre”.
The recent incident, according to findings, took place around 11pm on Friday, when the bandits in their numbers, stormed the village and went straight to the houses of the villagers, brought them out and slaughtered them.
Thereafter the bandits rustled the cattle of the villagers and took them into the Kainji forest.
According to eyewitnesses: “The bandits were in their numbers when they came; they went straight to their victims and killed them in their houses. They came purposely because of them; they were the target.
“All the cattle that were stolen were moved towards the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in Borgu Sector that night”.
The council chairman, Nasiru confirmed the story, saying, “My people are now living in fear.”
He urged the federal government to intensify security operations in the area.
