A devastating attack shook Kebbi State on Sunday night as armed bandits stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, abducting 25 students and killing a school official.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen invaded the school under the cover of darkness, operating without resistance as panic spread across the community.
In a tragic act of bravery, the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, was shot dead while attempting to shield students from the attackers.
Residents described the incident as deeply traumatic, leaving families and the wider community in anguish. Prayers have been pouring in for the late Makuku, with many asking Allah to grant him eternal rest and to comfort his grieving family.
Confirming the incident, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, stated that 25 schoolgirls were abducted during the attack.
Security operations are reported to be underway as authorities intensify efforts to rescue the students and restore calm to the region.
