Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has spoken out against online trolls who criticised her emotional reaction during the service of songs held in honour of late actress Allwell Ademola.
The actress took to Instagram to address the backlash after a social media user reportedly sent her a direct message cursing her father. The message, she said, crossed a line and prompted her public response.
In a strongly worded post, Bakare expressed outrage at what she described as an unacceptable level of disrespect, questioning the audacity of anyone who would involve her family in online attacks. She noted that mourning a colleague should not invite abuse or ridicule.
Bakare made it clear that she does not see herself as a celebrity obligated to remain silent in the face of provocation, adding that she would not suppress her reactions when her family is insulted.
She further challenged the troll to reflect on their own mortality and the legacy they would leave behind, urging them to focus on their own lives rather than policing how others grieve.
Her response quickly gained traction online, drawing support from fans and fellow industry colleagues who applauded her for standing up to harassment and defending her family.
Allwell Ademola was laid to rest on Friday following her passing. Since her death, tributes have continued to pour in from across the Nollywood community, celebrating her life, talent, and impact on the film industry.
