Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has dismissed recent claims by some of his colleagues who accused MC Oluomo, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of failing to deliver on promises allegedly made during the 2023 presidential campaign for President Bola Tinubu.
In the past few months, actors including Lalude and Alapini have publicly expressed regret over their participation in the campaign, alleging that they were sidelined despite their visible support for Tinubu’s emergence as president.
Alapini, in a June 2025 interview, said he felt abandoned after the election victory, while Lalude accused MC Oluomo of failing to fulfill financial commitments supposedly made to them.
However, Baba Fokoko has now set the record straight. Speaking during a recent appearance on Oyinmomo TV, the veteran actor said no such promises were made, and that the claims were misleading.
“He didn’t promise to reward any of us. He didn’t promise me anything, but he had it in mind to treat us well,” Baba Fokoko clarified. “It’s been more than two years now, and he never said he would give anyone anything after the campaign.”
The actor explained that MC Oluomo only provided food items to campaign participants during the election period, which were shared among them more than once.
“He brought foodstuffs for us to distribute, and we went home with them on more than two occasions. That was all, there was no talk of compensation afterward,” he added.
His comments come amid renewed debates over the relationship between the Nigerian entertainment industry and political campaigns, with questions about expectations, endorsements, and accountability continuing to stir conversation online.
