Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has shared details about a past relationship she described as a secret and unhealthy “situationship.”
The “Rush” singer opened up about the experience during a recent appearance on Way Up With Angela Yee, where she discussed aspects of her personal life and relationships.
According to the singer, the relationship remained strictly private and was known only to the two people involved. She said even her close friends repeatedly advised her to leave the situation.
“It was a secret, unhealthy situationship, no one knew except us,” she said during the interview.
“My friends kept telling me to end it, but I loved him and kept going back because we had a real friendship.”
Starr explained that although the relationship had an emotional connection, she eventually began to question its future because it appeared to lack direction.
“It wasn’t going anywhere, so I started asking myself: where do we go from here?” she said.
The singer added that while she preferred to keep the relationship private, she also hoped her partner would show stronger commitment.
“I wanted it private, but at the same time I wanted him to fight for me,” she added.
Ayra Starr is known for keeping much of her personal life out of the public eye, making the revelation a rare insight into her romantic experiences outside her music career.
