Nigerian musician Ayra Starr has revealed how working with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid taught her that confidence is not just about making noise.
Speaking after her performance at the Grammy Museum on Tuesday, Ayra Starr described Wizkid as a “leading legend” and shared how his demeanor influenced her perspective on purpose and self-assurance.
“Wizkid is a leading legend. We all know that. My first time working with him, I just couldn’t believe it and I was myself. But the second time, he was very calm, cool, and relaxed,” she said.
Ayra Starr explained that observing Wizkid’s composed confidence helped her understand that true self-assurance comes from being present and committed to one’s mission, rather than being loud or attention-seeking.
“I know confidence isn’t noise. He made me have that understanding. He’s very present & confident in his life mission, and that made me learn a lot,” she added.
Her reflection highlights the importance of mentorship and learning from seasoned professionals in the Nigerian music industry.
