Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has revealed that Ademola Lookman was misled by poor counsel during his failed attempt to join Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international submitted a transfer request and went AWOL after Atalanta rejected Inter’s €45 million bid in August. The 27-year-old was subsequently frozen out of the squad and only resumed training with his teammates last Thursday.
Lookman made his first appearance of the season in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Torino, coming on for Kamaldeen Sulemana in the 87th minute.
“He (Lookman) spoke to me and the team on Monday, he was surrounded by people who had given him some bad advice,” Juric told Tuttomercatoweb.
“He has a great winning mentality and now we need to get him back in shape physically.”
