Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has dismissed claims that his side are the favourites to win the Premier League title, despite their recent strong form.
The Gunners currently sit three points clear at the top of the table following a 1–0 victory over Fulham and Liverpool’s 2–1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield.
Since their loss to Liverpool in August, Arsenal have gone unbeaten in five consecutive league matches and eight across all competitions, a run that has seen them emerge as front-runners in the title race.
However, speaking ahead of their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, Arteta insisted he was not focused on external narratives.
“The only thing I embrace is when I see the team — the energy, the temperature, the commitment and quality they can deliver,” Arteta told reporters.
“That gives me the conviction that we can go all the way. But that’s just a feeling; the next day you have to prove it.
“Every game in this league is must-win. We are very appreciative of that, so we don’t get carried away with anything.”
Arsenal return to European action on Tuesday night as they host Atletico Madrid in a crucial Champions League group-stage encounter.
