Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Jamie Redknapp, has described Arsenal as the only outstanding team in the Premier League so far this season.
Speaking during an interview after last weekend’s fixtures, Redknapp said that while Chelsea and other top sides have shown flashes of quality, no team has matched Arsenal’s consistency in the title race.
The Gunners currently sit six points clear of second-placed Manchester City after a 2–0 victory over Burnley, while Chelsea edged Tottenham Hotspur 1–0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“When I look at Chelsea, at least there’s a bit of excitement and flair,” Redknapp said.
“It was just too easy for Chelsea [to beat Tottenham]. If we analyse the Premier League this year, there is just one outstanding side. Arsenal are head and shoulders above.
“The rest are struggling. No one is finding that consistency, and that is why it is up for grabs for Chelsea this season.”
Redknapp added that Chelsea have a good chance of finishing strongly if they can maintain their recent form.
Meanwhile, Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2–0 win over Aston Villa, climbing to third, while Manchester City remain second after a 3–1 victory over Bournemouth.
Both Chelsea and Tottenham are in Champions League action this week — Chelsea away to Qarabag, and Spurs at home against Copenhagen.
