Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Arsenal are finally showing the quality and confidence needed to win the Premier League title.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap: Fans Edition, Scholes said Mikel Arteta’s side have evolved significantly since their 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.
“Arsenal aren’t quite winning the league yet, but you watch them and think they’re good,” Scholes said. “At the start of the season, I never saw that in Arsenal, until the Newcastle game. They took the handbrake off a little, he started playing Eze and Ødegaard came into the team again.”
The former England international added that Arsenal’s recent performances reflect the same kind of momentum Manchester City built before becoming serial champions.
“Suddenly, they are playing the type of football of a team you would expect to win the league. Saying you think they are capable, you’re never going to know until it happens,” Scholes added.
Arsenal head into the October international break one point clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, maintaining their impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign.
