Arsenal cut Liverpool’s Premier League lead to two points after a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Despite dominating early, the Gunners trailed when Nick Woltemade put Newcastle ahead against the run of play. But Mikel Arteta’s men rallied in the second half, with substitute Mikel Merino heading in a Declan Rice cross to level before Gabriel Magalhães sealed the win in stoppage time.
Arsenal now sit on 13 points, keeping the pressure on Liverpool after the leaders suffered their first defeat of the season in a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
