Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has lauded the performance and conduct of defender Fran García after the Spaniard played a pivotal role in a 4–1 LaLiga triumph against Elche. Occupying the left-back position at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday, March 14, the 26-year-old delivered a versatile performance that assisted the capital club in maintaining their pursuit of the league title. The victory significantly impacts the standings, reducing Barcelona’s lead to a single point ahead of their Sunday fixture against Sevilla.
Following the final whistle, Arbeloa singled out the former Rayo Vallecano man for his work ethic and readiness, despite a season characterized by limited starting opportunities. Since the summer arrival of Álvaro Carreras, García has largely served as a secondary option, featuring in 17 total matches this term with only seven starts. However, his statistical output against Elche—which included an assist, seven defensive interventions, and six passes into the final third—underscored his value to the squad.
Reflecting on the defender’s contribution and character, Arbeloa remarked:
“Fran García? I must express my gratitude to him. He is an exceptional professional. It is not easy to maintain the level that Fran achieves daily, especially without regular playtime. He trains excellently and is always there for his teammates, maintaining a positive attitude. I wish I had 25 players like Fran.”
García’s journey with Los Blancos is one of persistence; after emerging from the club’s academy and gaining experience during a successful stint at Rayo Vallecano, he returned to his childhood team in 2023. He has since reached 102 appearances for the club. His latest display, which featured high-precision long balls and consistent chance creation, serves as a reminder of his reliability within the current roster as Real Madrid enters the final stretch of the domestic campaign.
